Postdoctoral Research Associate in Statistics Position
The Department of Economics, Management and Quantitative Methods (DEMM), University of Milan, Italy launches a call for expressions of interest to identify potential candidates for a full-time, 3-year fixed-term Postdoctoral Research Associate position to work on a ground breaking programme grant funded by the Centre of Excellence in Economics and Data Science (CEEDS), awarded by the Italian Ministry of Education (MIUR).
Founded in 1923, the University of Milan is a public university situated at the hearth of the main Italian financial and economic district. The University of Milan is ranked 325 in the QS Global Word Ranking and is included in the Very High category of the QS research output, which classifies universities based on research intensity, i.e. the number of papers output relative to the University size. The university is home to a large number of active research programs in many research fields.
DEMM is home of the Data Science Research Center, a cross-field interdisciplinary collaboration among various University departments having important research projects in the area of data science. DEMM promotes highly innovative master programmes in the field of data science for economics, business and finance.
The gross remuneration package for this position will be approximately in the range €30,000-40,000 p.a.; the net salary will be approximately in the range €21,000-28,000 p.a., as this type of contract is tax-free in Italy. The final salary level will be fixed according to experience and skills.
Applicants will be expected to have, or be close to completing, a PhD in Statistics, Probability Theory, Economics, Computer Science or related areas and must be able to actively contribute to the excellence of the departmental research and capable of publishing in top academic journals in the area of Statistical Inference and Data Science. Candidates will ideally be based in the Milan area and are expected to support the activities of DEMM, participating in the life of the Department through service.
